Hi there again, this is the 2nd part of the review on STK's Command Wolf Barad Ver.
I'll be doing a comparison for the HMM 1/72 Command Wolf as I have both the ori and the pirated one.

***Please note that the pink coloured one is from Ko******** while the Blue one is STK's Barad's Ver.***

50mm Anti-Zoid Beam Gun..or..Cannon [as stated in the manual]
Weapon Turret's cockpit side view. One missing panel line..? XD The cockpit hatch opens well.
Front Top view. The nose for STK's has some missing details.
I still lol-ed at this part. The round parts painted silver are oval-ed shape.. XD Everything else is pretty much quite neat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Turrets:
Side view. I believe you can see the missing details. :P
Top view. Bottom view.
The sensor units are missing in place. Maybe you can cut out some foil stickers in its place.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The tricky part:
If one tries to just remove or twist it abit, sometimes the holder might
pop out, but that's ok as the polycaps is still stuck to the gun.
That is the small platform that the weapon pod will be placed on before it is being mounted on the Command Wolf's hard point.
When it is being removed, the blue component from the weapon pod flips on abit, prompting the cockpit hatch to open up in place a lil bit. In this case, you might want to glue it or just push it back into its position.

AC - AZ2 250mm Long Range Cannon Attack Unit
As for this AC unit, I don't have a ori kit to show comparison, but I did look up on Dalong.net to see some minor differences.
As seen in the photo above, the ones I can spot are the missing lines on the round sensor unit, which I think with patience you can carve it out bit by bit.
And the second one is the sensor units right below the turrets, which I think can be cut out from foil stickers.
Lastly, you see those huge binder like things beside? The inner part of it looks messy right? The original is actually clean and smooth inside with those few thick lines.

A clearer view of the inner part of the side binder and everything else.

Pre-painted figures:
Yes, for Barad's ver. it comes with pre-painted figures. One is Barad and another is some robot figure.
In the original, Barad has a skin tone colour and of course both figures are more well painted. Right? The STK ones seems to be from the same base colour they were molded from. You can paint them yourselves too if you want. :)

Thoughts:
For the money, which is 50%-60% lesser than the original price, it's worth it. Craving for something non-bipedal? Then I believe this is the choice. You can also buy to try it if you don't have any koto zoids kit before. It'll be fun to build and for those who have Barad's ver, you can share the equipment around with other Wolves in the pack. Ask those who first tried it and see what they say.
I never expected the HMM line to be pirated, honestly. The first I saw was the white coloured Command Wolf and the standard Gun Sniper, then later this Barad's ver and from BTmodel, the Shield Liger [it has one extra part which the ori doesn't have]. I'll be waiting to see what BTmodel and STK have to offer more on their future releases.
Just like the Koto conterpart, each piece is molded out
with no missing parts though with some very minor lost in details in
some areas. Of course the quality is nothing compared to the original,
but the plastic is tough.
It's 95% near the ori. Barad's Ver [the one I'm reviewing], the plastic
has this glitter dust if you shine the light at a certain angle. Not
sure why.. XD But I know the original kit seems to be a lil bit glossy.
It's good to see that they tried to follow with the pre-painted figures and such too. Most of the parts fit in nicely, other than some tiny parts which needed to be glued [this case is also very common in the Koto counterparts, not only in the Zoids HMM line]. I can't comment much on the stickers/decals cos I never applied them...yet.
As for articulations, posability/mobility is similar to the ori. The legs all can stretch in and out alot but sadly with the way the paws are engineered, it can't really support the weight fully. If you're free, maybe you might want to try to do some minor modifications to the paws section to make it pose more.

With this ends the review on STK's Command Wolf Barad Ver.
I hope you have enjoyed the review so far. I'll try my best to update frequently as I also have to deal with stuff in my life.
Photos are by me.
Thank you for a very detailed review.
ReplyDeleteOne question though. I've just finished my STK's Command Wolf Barad's ver. However, I found some minor differences in your Command Wolf comparing to mine. For example, your Command Wolf's ear piece appears to be grey while mine is blue like most parts of its armors. My guess is you have painted it grey yourself?
Hi Notia, thanks for your comment there.
DeleteAh yes, I did paint parts of the Command Wolf with the gundam markers I have with me. Sorry that I forgot to mention it while doing the review. ><
where the heck are people getting these from?
ReplyDeleteHi miinotu, thanks for stopping by & sorry for the late reply.
DeleteFor me, I got it from a fellow local seller. :)
