AULDEY 1/144 Scale Model: C.S.P GIV0115 Galion

Hi all, it's been awhile since the post of the ELYN 1/100 Scale Kastrysha post. Will post close up photos of the ELYN 1/100 Scale Kastrysha soon but first..let's take a look at AULDEY's new/original line, KAINAR.

I've only got 2 kits from these series & one of them is the 1/144 scale Galion which will be reviewed now.

CLOSE UP

SOLE DETAILS

Claw (Can only open up that far)
Yes, the claw on the left side opens only that much.

ARTICULATIONS 1
-Legs stretch out that far.
- Arms stretch out that much; able to rotate 360 degrees just below the shoulder's joint; elbow only goes up to 90 degrees (and the joint there is a polycap molded).
-Head can turn around 360 degrees but hindered by the armor around it.
-Left shoulder armor (with claw) is able to rotate around 360 degrees only
-Right shoulder armor (with a shield or sorts) is able to swing up n down.
-Side shoulder armor moves up that much.

-Of course, the waist is able to turn around 360 degress.

ARTICULATIONS 2
-Legs are double jointed but only able to move that much..
-Front skirt armor moves out that much

SHOULDER ARTICULATIONS
Shoulder swings back & forth.

FITTING ISSUE
The only fitting issue I face with this kit is that the underarms's armor do not fit in well.

The BLUE LINE in the image above shows that it is supposed to be straight, but when you assemble it, that piece actually tends to bend towards the inside (refer to red line as seen in the image above).

When I removed that piece of armor to check if the parts joining together are alright, they are not and in fact they have some minor stress marks due to the bending at the front portion of the armor .

I quite like the unit on the left side since it looks balance on both the shoulder equipments.

SIZE COMPARISON (with a HG AGE-1 SPALLOW dragon momoko's ver.)

FULL COLOUR of GALION (from online sources)

After some painting or even putting the foil stickers on the kit, it should look like this.

Places to improve on:
1. Articulations
2. Parts seperation

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall, the articulation on the 1/144 Galion seems to be on the average side. It does have a decent amount of details on the kit (which would look good after panel lining).

I quite like the design of the Galion as it looks like a pirate unit or sorts as the face has a skull feature. Also, it does look like a mix of a Zaku 2 with designs from the Crossbone Gundam's series.

As mentioned above on places to improve on, Auldey should have engineered the 1/144 scale Galion to have articulations on par with HGs in the market today. The black joint that supports the shoulder equipments should also be movable as I feel the current position it is in make it quite stiff plus it also hinders some movements of the arms. They should also do better part separations for future releases as this one looks rather plain.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I might consider collecting this Kainar line of kits  if the price is right. As for the Galion kit, I foresee other types of Galions that will be produced as I noticed on the model kit itself, there are some parts molded to have something fixed to it, they are the side of the head & also the upper-side portion of the backpack.

For the 1/144 scale Galion of mine...I think I will change it to another colour scheme.. Don't quite like the orangy-colour on it.. lol

I will try my best to assemble the other Kainar model kit I have in hand.

Thanks for viewing. :)
